The round determines the prize. The teams and the city determine the price.

We took the verified numbers from the TicketData resale market captured on June 10, 2026, for the above infographic.

It shows the most and least expensive matches based on get-in ticket prices.

One realization stood out: a match played in the tournament’s opening round, without elimination consequences, has been priced above the games that determine who reaches the final.

TL;DR

  • The World Cup final at MetLife Stadium has a $7,967 get-in price on the resale market, but the second-most expensive ticket is not a semi-final; it is Colombia v Portugal, a group-stage match priced at $2,856.
  • Hard Rock Stadium in Miami appears four times in the top ten most expensive matches, more than any other venue, driven by the concentration of the Latin American diaspora.
  • The cheapest available ticket is $167 for Cabo Verde v Saudi Arabia in Houston.

Colombia v Portugal and the Fanbase Premium

The second-most expensive ticket in the tournament is Colombia versus Portugal at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, priced at $2,856.

That price is $391 above the cheaper semi-final and $391 less than the Mexico v South Africa opening match at Estadio Azteca ($2,801, the third most expensive).

Both Colombia and Portugal carry global commercial weight:

  • Colombia has one of the largest Latin American diaspora communities in the United States, concentrated heavily in Florida and the Northeast.
  • Portugal’s global following (amplified by Cristiano Ronaldo’s career-long profile) meets that diaspora in Miami

The resale market has priced that specific demographic convergence at above two knockout-stage matches.

Fans are willing to pay more to see Colombia and Portugal in Miami than to watch unknown teams compete in an elimination semi-final in Dallas or Atlanta.

Miami’s Dominance

Hard Rock Stadium appears four times in the ten most expensive matches.

No other venue appears more than twice in either the expensive or the cheap list.

Miami has become the tournament’s most commercially demanded host city, a product of its Latin American diaspora density, Brazil’s sizeable South Florida fanbase, and the cumulative effect of multiple premium matchup assignments to a single stadium.

The Cheap List’s Pattern

The ten cheapest matches share a consistent characteristic: none feature a major football commercial draw facing a significant North American diaspora.

Cabo Verde v Saudi Arabia ($167), Jordan v Algeria ($197), Bosnia-Herzegovina v Qatar ($213), Uzbekistan v Congo DR ($236), and Egypt v Iran ($282) are legitimate World Cup fixtures between genuine qualifying nations.

The resale market has priced them at or near the tournament floor because neither team in any of those matchups generates significant demand from the US cities hosting them or from the global neutral fan base that drives premium pricing elsewhere.

Jordan and Algeria appear three times across the cheapest list.

The market’s assessment is that the absence of diaspora demand, neutral fan appeal, and local market interest produces the same result across multiple fixtures.

ELI5 (Explain It Like I’m 5)

Resale ticket prices for 2026 World Cup matches range from $167 to $7,967. The most expensive is the final, but surprisingly, the second-priciest is a group-stage match (Colombia v Portugal in Miami), which costs more than both semi-finals because both fan bases are huge and Miami has lots of Latin American fans. The cheapest tickets are for matches between countries whose fans aren’t concentrated in the US host cities. Same tournament, very different prices.
