Data Shows Israel Attacked Gaza, West Bank 8,332 Times In Under A Year

all-the-countries-israel-attacked_DataExplained

Israel carried out at least 10,624 verified military attacks across nine countries and territories in the first 338 days of 2025.

This is according to data from the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED), as reported by Al Jazeera

In the visualization above, we chart the number of verified and reported attacks carried out by Israel across regions.

One interesting insight in the data is that Gaza and the occupied West Bank absorbed 8,332 of those attacks. That is 78.4% of every verified Israeli strike recorded during the period.

TL;DR

  • ACLED data shows Israel carried out at least 10,624 verified military attacks across nine countries and territories, averaging roughly 31 attacks every single day.
  • Gaza and the occupied West Bank are by far the most targeted territories in the record.
  • The real number is almost certainly higher. ACLED itself states these figures likely undercount actual attacks due to reporting gaps in active conflict zones.

How are Attacks Measured?

ACLED tracks political violence using verified reports from local, national, and international news sources, as well as international bodies.

For this data, the organization filtered for violent events including air and drone strikes, shelling, missile attacks, remote explosives, and other armed attacks carried out by Israeli forces.

Hence, the figures do not include Israeli settler attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank, home demolitions, or the nightly raids that human rights organizations say occur daily.

This means that the 8,332 figure is a floor, not a ceiling.

Lebanon, Iran, and the Conflict Beyond Gaza

Lebanon recorded 1,653 verified Israeli attacks over the same period, the second-highest figure on record.

It becomes more striking when placed next to Gaza: Israel attacked Gaza and the West Bank more than five times as often as it attacked Lebanon, a country it was simultaneously conducting an active northern military campaign against.

Iran sits at 379 verified attacks.

That figure quietly reframes how this conflict has been described.

For much of 2025, mainstream coverage characterized Israeli-Iranian hostilities as a proxy conflict, fought through intermediaries rather than directly.

A verified count of 379 direct Israeli strikes on Iranian territory in under a year makes that framing harder to sustain.

Fewer Attacks But Bigger Questions

Qatar recorded one verified Israeli attack, Tunisian waters recorded two, while Maltese and Greek waters recorded one each.

Those four entries sit quietly at the bottom of a record dominated by the Gaza figures, but they carry outsized significance.

Malta and Greece are both members of the European Union and NATO.

Verified Israeli military action in waters adjacent to EU and NATO member states is the kind of detail that the overall scale of the Gaza numbers tends to obscure.

However, it speaks directly to how broadly the geographic footprint of this conflict actually extends.

ELI5

Between January and early December 2025, Israel carried out at least 10,624 verified military attacks across nine different countries, averaging about 31 per day.

Nearly 8 in every 10 of those attacks hit Gaza and the West Bank.

Israel also struck Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Qatar, and waters near European countries.

Experts say even these numbers are probably an undercount.
